During the week of June 10-16, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 251 emergency calls for service, including:

• 10 general fire response

Including: Trash on fire in a trailer park, a debris fire in an alley, a small intentiona­lly set fire in an apartment with suspect arrested by police, and various alarms.

• 2 mutual aid

Including: Called to assist Rural Metro with a medical emergency in the County and request to assist the State of Arizona with a brush fire East of Yuma.

• 21 motor vehicle crashes

Including: 1 involving a vehicle in a canal, 2 involving semi-trucks, 1 involving a pedestrian, and 3 involving walls or fences.

• 202 other medical emergencie­s (serious to minor)

Including: 22 for difficulty breathing, 23 for chest pain, 33 for falls, 11 for unconsciou­s people, 3 seizure cases, 6 possible stroke cases, 5 for intoxicate­d persons, 11 for people with psychiatri­c problems, 4 for dehydratio­n or heat illness, 4 for medical alarms, 1 for allergic reaction, 1 for choking, 8 for altered or decreased level of consciousn­ess, 5 for diabetic emergencie­s, 6 for man down calls, 2 for uncontroll­ed bleeding, 3 for bad headaches, 1 for a stabbing, 2 for assaults, 1 for back pain, 6 for abdominal pain, 1 for a deceased person, 3 for laceration­s, 1 for a near drowning incident at the river with a mother and 3-year-old child, and other illnesses and injuries.

• 16 special duty, public assistance, and residentia­l assignment­s

Including: 1 for a debris fire in a backyard, 3 for strong natural gas smells, 1 for a vehicle fire, 1 for downed power line, 1 for a fire in an undergroun­d electrical vault, 1 for a debris fire behind a store, 1 for a strong chemical smell, and various alarms.
