The next Desert Hills Men’s Golf Associatio­n tournament will be played on Saturday the 14th of July with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The tournament format will be a two-man modified chapman system with a team handicap of 14 and a maximum spread of twenty strokes. On June the 11, 12, 13, and 14 Shannon Mason and Pam Upayokin, from the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course, participat­ed in the AWGA State Amateur Match Play Championsh­ip played at the Legend Trail Golf Club in Scottsdale. The first day was the stroke play qualifying round to determine their bracket placement. They were both qualified in the First Flight Bracket and Shannon was the winner of the bracket by winning her matches on June 12, 13 and 14. Pam won her match on June 12 but lost on the second round. Gabe Rico posted 21 gross scorepro points to win first place in the Desert Hill’s Men’s Golf Associatio­n tournament play on Saturday morning with Mark Pancrazi winning second place with 19 pro points. Jerrod Lackey was in third place with sixteen points and Alex Munoz, Gabe Plaza and Bobby Contreras tied for fourth place with fourteen points each. Dennis Seek won the net division with 27 pro points with Roy Browning winning second net. The skin winners were Gabe Rico, Mark Pancrazi, Bryon Green, Alex Munoz, Mike Covey, Bill Bort, Jeff Buffmeyer, Dennis Seek, Gil Christoffe­rson and Mike Covey.

George Christophe­r posted 7.28 pro points to win first place in the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course mixed Quota Tournament played on Monday morning. Second place went to Jack Parker with 4.94 pro points and Bob Rehn took third place with 3.99 points. Garry Sletten and Dale Hoch finished in fourth and fifth place. The skin winners were Robert Lauer, George Christophe­r, Hank Browning, Garrett McKeeman, Dale Hoch, George Christophe­r and Sandy Blair.

On Tuesday at the Las Barrancas Golf Course the Silver League gross score winners were Bill Taylor and Larry Garrett. The net score winners were Jack Joseph and Greg Beatie. The team winners were Rollie Harris, John Cullen, Al Smith and Rick Wilcox.

Marilyn Cotter, Albert Johnson, Garry Sletten, David Givens, Sandra Blair, Hank Browning and Raymond Throckmort­on were the winners in the Mesa Del Sol mixed “Pinky’s Pick” best ball gross plus best ball net play on Wednesday morning. The skin winners were Marilyn Cotter, Jim Mitchell, Bob Blair, Sandra Blair and David Givens.

On Wednesday at the Foothills Executive Golf Course the men’s league gross score winners were Larry Nicholson and Greg Beatie. The net score winners were Melvin McDonald and Ken Kingston. The team winners were Al Pittman, Dennis Wagner, Lyle Wheeler and Larry Rocci.

In the Mesa Del Sol Wednesday Twilight League play Robert Gomez and Mike Van Allen shot a 64 to win the two man combined net score competitio­n. Robert Vaughan and Ernie Jimenez were second at 66. Jerry Crump continued to maintain his lead in the Spring Points Race. Next week’s play is individual net format with play beginning at 5:00 p.m.

On Thursday at the Las Barrancas Golf Course the copper league gross score winners were Larry Garrett and Mark Hammons. The net score winners were Al Pittman and Al Smith.

Ray Butler and Frank Manson teamed to win the gross pro point best ball division of the Mesa Del Sol MGA play on Friday morning. Ed McCoy and a blind draw partner were the net division winners with Bill Dowding and Don Kruse taking second place. Steve Parrish and Bob Blair finished in third place in the net division. The skin winners were Dale Hoch, Ray Butler, Garry Sletten, Steve Parrish and Don Kruse.
