Thoughts on advertising, prescription drugs

-

Do you folks remember the beer from Sky Blue Waters and the Bear that was in the ad and the Marlboro man? Well it was concluded that this type of advertising was not fit since it caused people to buy and use things that might be detrimental to their health, so it was removed. Then came hundreds of ads telling us about all these wonderful drugs that could cure anything from falling hair to ingrown toenails, allowing pharmaceutical companies to make billions of dollars.

However, we find the following resulted: “The number of deaths and hospitalizations caused by prescription drugs has risen precipitously in the past decade, with overdoses of pain medications, in particular opioids, sedatives and tranquilizers, more than doubling between 1999 and 2006, according to a new study.” A couple of years ago 98,000 people died from prescription drugs! Well, something else just has to be done to what appears to be a way for others to make billions off our health problems, which just may not be all it is cracked up to be and which is a third step in a vicious circle! Lawyers are now suing these companies who made these drugs that are now causing worse health problems and in many cases death! I would like to list all these drugs but just watch TV and you will see them listed and what law firm is suing. Well I think there is a safer solution! Let’s go back to the Land of Sky Blue Waters beer and the Marlboro Man. One problem with the Marlboro man, who can afford to smoke anymore? Many now have quit and we did not have to use drugs that kill to do it!

Just raise the price of tobacco! JIM KINDLE Yuma
