Fire House Facts
From Sunday, June 24, through Saturday, June 30, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 284 emergency calls for service, including:
• 9 general fire response
Including: A gas line damaged by a backhoe, a trailer home fire, and various alarms.
• 3 mutual aid
Including: Called to assist Rural Metro with 3 emergency medical runs in the county, including a motor vehicle crash on Hwy 95 at milepost 57.
• 14 motor vehicle crashes
Including: 1 involving a pedestrian, 1 involving a house, and 1 involving a rollover.
• 240 other medical emergencies (serious to minor)
Including: 31 for difficulty breathing, 15 for chest pain, 35 for falls, 13 for unconscious people, 4 seizure cases, 5 possible stroke cases, 7 for intoxicated persons, 3 for persons under the influence of drugs, 1 for drug overdose, 11 for people with psychiatric problems, 1 for dehydration or heat illness, 3 for medical alarms, 16 for altered or decreased level of consciousness, 1 for fever, 1 for broken bones, 9 for diabetic emergencies, 1 for a human bite, 10 for man down calls, 1 for uncontrolled bleeding, 5 for bad headaches, 3 for gunshot wounds (2 fatalities), 4 for assaults, 6 for back pain, 16 for abdominal pain, 2 for withdrawals (1 heroin, 1 alcohol), 1 for lacerations, 1 for a person who dropped a piece of furniture on their foot, and other illnesses and injuries.
• 18 special duty, public assistance, and residential assignments
Including: 2 for snake removals, 1 for a small brush fire, 1 vehicle fire, 1 for power lines down, 1 for a dumpster fire, 1 to assist with turning off a stove burner with the knob broken off, 1 to assist YPD with a biohazard clean-up at a crime scene, and various alarms.
