The next Desert Hills Men’s Golf Association tournament will be played on Saturday, July 14 with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The tournament format will be a two man modified chapman system with a team handicap of 14 and a maximum spread of twenty strokes. The mixed Twilight League play at the Mesa del Sol Golf Course will resume on Thursday, July 19. The events will be 2-person net formats with individual skins games, close to the pins, and long drive contests. All events are open to women and men. The cost is $30 per player and includes bar snacks after play. Play begins at 5:00 p.m. each week.
A Gila Ridge Golf Team Fundraising Tournament will be held on Saturday, August 18 at the Mesa del Sol Golf Course. The format is a 4-person 2-Best Ball Shamble with Gross and Net Winners. Entry fees and a sponsorship for a team is $400. Proceeds go towards equipment and travel expenses for the Gila Ridge High School Golf program. Entry forms are available at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Shop.
George Christopher posted 8.07 quota points to win the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course weekly mixed league Quota play on Monday morning. Garry Sletten finished in second place with 3.87 quota points, Bob Rehn was the third place with 3.55 points.
The skin winners were George Christopherson, Steve Parrish, Garry Sletten and Garrett McKeeman.
Heather Comeau was the winner of the Desert Hills Ladies “Ace of the Month” play on Tuesday morning. Sue Janney won the daily gross play and Trish Steffey was the daily net play winner. The KP winners were Sue Janney and Heather Comeau.
Maxine Gatti carried teammates Bob Lauer, Bob Ewers, and Ken Sparks to a first-place finish in the weekly Moose Lodge scramble play, on Tuesday morning the 26th of June, at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course. Second place went to the team of Charlie Kline, Ron Hardin, Loretta Holland and Jerry Klinaer.
On Tuesday at the Las Barrancas Golf Course the Men’s Silver League gross score winners were John Cullen, and Larry Garrett. The net winners were Bob Selle, and Jim Forbes. The team winners were; Mark Parks, Jack Joseph, Harry Stanley, and John Newberry.
Jack Parker was the winner in the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course “Pinky’s Pick” weekly mixed play on Wednesday morning. Second place was shared between Raymond Butler and George Christopherson with Pinky Throckmorton finished in fourth place. Garry Sletten, Marilyn Cotter and Bob Blair were the remaining three winners. The skin winners were Lee Laabs, Phyllis Mashburn, Bob Rehn, Mike St Clair, Bob Blair, Marilyn Cotter, George Christopherson and Raymond Butler.
On Wednesday at the Foothills Executive Golf Course the Men’s League gross score winners were Jim Hartley and Bob Selle. The net score winners were Al Smith and Al Pittman. The team winners were John Newberry, Conrad Eisenach, Larry Nicholson, and Larry Rocci.
On Thursday at the Las Barrancas Golf Course the Copper League gross score winners were John Cullen, Larry Garrett, and Lee Estes. The net score winners were Jack Joseph, Al Smith, and Larry Nicholson.
Bob Lauer and Frank Manson were the winners in the Mesa Del Sol men’s club mixed gross and net play on Friday morning. Mary Kruse and Roger Brown took second place with Steve Parrish and Garry Sletten finishing third, and Ray Butler and Bob Blair took fourth place.
