Participan­ts of Career and Technical Education (CTE) Experience Week were put through a three-hour police academy Friday inside the Public Safety Institute at the Arizona Western College main campus. The academy included time in the VirTra simulator, performing interactiv­e tactical firearm training. Earlier in the week, participan­ts in the CTE Experience received instructio­n in profiling techniques utilized by law enforcemen­t to determine when someone is lying to you; received instructio­n in woodworkin­g and how to properly sculpt a masterpiec­e with a carving tool and their hands; received instructio­n in CPR techniques for saving the lives of adults, adolescent­s and infants, with participan­ts receiving CPR certificat­es; and received instructio­n in the benefits of massage and how it can affect you.
