Gabe Plaza and Dennis Barrager posted a two under par 70 to win the gross division of the Desert Hills Men’s Golf Associatio­n two man Modified Chapman Tournament on Saturday morning. Second place went to the team of Peter Sterenberg and Hank Browning, with Randy Norred and Miguel Zendejas taking third place and John Baas and Christain Gallegos finishing in fourth place.

The net division winners were Robert Foot and Joe Lesniak with a net score of 58 with Roy Browning and Rick Faris taking second net with a score of 59. The third place net finishers were Charles Duffy and Ed Allupay with a 61. The team skin winners were Marc Grande and Brent Baker, Geoff Nance and Dave Brownlie, Jose Rodriguez and Nate Townsend, and John Bass and Christian Gallegos. The KP winners were Geoff Nance and Dave Brownlie, Ed Allupay and Charles Duffy, and Enrique Neri and Gil Christoffe­rsen.

Congratula­tions are extended to Bruce Clark and his staff for the quality of golf tournament­s they presents monthly to the DHMGA members and their guest.

Bill Dowding posted nine quota points to win first place in the Mesa Del Sol weekly mixed quota play on Monday morning with Hank Gray winning second place with 5.8 quota points. Garrett McKeeman took third place, Ray Butler was fourth and Tami Harmon finished fifth. The skin winners were Bill Dowding, Shannon Mason, Marilyn Cotter, Ray Butler and Garrett McKeeman.

On Tuesday at the Las Barrancas Golf Course the Silver League gross score winners were Jack Joseph and Frankie Allen. The net score winners were Rick Wilcox and Carl Riggs. The team winners were Al Smith, Fred Okerholm, John Cullen, and Greg Beatie.

Heather Comeau was the first place gross score winner in the Desert Hills Ladies weekly play on Tuesday morning with Trish Steffey winning the net score division. Comeau was also the KP winner on the 15 hole and Diane Comeau was the KP winner on the 8 hole.

Rusty Wies teamed with John Coffey, Carol Devold, and Skip Moorehouse for a scrambling score of two under par 34 to win first place in the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course weekly Moose Lodge play on Tuesday morning. That included the hole in one that Moorehouse recorded on the 17 hole.

Two teams tied for second place at 37 and the teams were Randy Labrasseur, Al Halbus, and Ken Sparks and Frank Domantay, John Scott, Bob Eawers, and Bud Hammond.

On Wednesday at The Foothills Executive Golf Course the men’s league gross score winners were Michael Costello, Jim Hartley, and Greg Beatie. The net score winners were Buddy Hartley, Al Smith, and John Newberry.

In the Mesa Del Sol Thursday Twilight League play Mitch Lebrecht and Garrett McKeeman both shot gross 35s and a team net 64 to win the Red, White and Blue Tee Combined Total format. Don Hodgin and Josh Wood were second with Mason Morris and Denney McKay winning third place. The Thursday Twilight League events are open to women and men. Cost is $30 per player and includes bar snacks after play. Play begins at 5:00 p.m.

Thursday at the Las Barrancas Golf Course the Copper League gross score winners were Mark Hammons, John Cullen, and Jack Joseph. The net score winners were Fred Okerholm, Larry Villa, and Al Smith.

Congratula­tions to Wayne Vandierend­onk for his hole in one on the 6 hole at the Las Barrancas Golf Course.

Sandy Blair carried team mates Stephen Parrish and “Pinky” Ray Throckmort­on to a first place finish in the gross division of the mixed MGA weekly play on Friday morning at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course. The net division team winners were Raymond Butler, Sam Samples and Albert Johnson with Bob Lauer, Frank Manson, and Roger brown taking second place in the net division. The skin winners were Raymond Butler, Bill Slade, Sandy Blair, David Doherty, Frank Manson and Sam Samples.

A Gila Ridge Golf Team Fundraisin­g Tournament will be held on Saturday the 18th of August at the Mesa del Sol Golf Course. The format is a 4-person 2-Best Ball Shamble with Gross and Net Winners. Entry fees and a sponsorshi­p for a team is $400. Proceeds go towards equipment and travel expenses for the Gila Ridge High School Golf program. Entry forms are available at the Mesa Del Sol Pro Shop.

The next Desert Hills Men’s Golf Associatio­n monthly tournament will be played on Saturday the 11th of August with ttimes starting at 8 a.m. The format will be a gross and net two person best ball with a minimum of 16 stroke spread.
