NEW YORK — The WNBA has suspended Phoenix Mercury guard Diana Taurasi one game without pay after she received her seventh technical foul of the season.

The suspension, announced Monday, came after Taurasi received two technical fouls and was ejected for arguing a call in the second quarter of Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Lynx. She will serve the suspension when the Mercury host the Chicago Sky on Thursday.

Under WNBA rules, a player or coach is automatically suspended a game without pay after receiving seven technical fouls during the regular season. Each additional two technical fouls would result in another game suspension.

Taurasi has been suspended a game for receiving seven technical fouls twice before, in 2016 and 2013. She also reached her ninth technical foul in 2013 and was suspended an additional game.

Police: Iowa football player mistook police car for Uber

IOWA CITY, Iowa — A University of Iowa football player faces a public intoxication charge after police say he drunkenly mistook a police car for an Uber.

University police say 22-yearold Brady Reiff was arrested in Iowa City early Saturday.

According to police, Reiff tried to open the doors of the parked cruiser. When an officer asked what he was doing, Reiff said he was looking for a ride. When the officer asked whether Reiff thought he was an Uber driver, Reiff replied, “Yes.”

Reiff allegedly registered a blood-alcohol content of .204, more than twice the legal limit to drive.

University Athletics Director Gary Barta says officials are looking into the incident. Reiff, a junior defensive tackle from Parkston, South Dakota, had 13 tackles and one sack in 12 games last season and was competing for a starting position this season.

Mavs, Clippers make international swap

DALLAS — The Dallas Mavericks have acquired the rights to forward Maarty Leunen and cash from the Los Angeles Clippers for two-way forward Johnathan Motley and the rights to guard Renaldas Seibutis.

Leunen has spent the past 10 seasons playing professionally in Turkey, Italy and Germany, most recently with Italy’s S.S. Felice Scandone. A native of Washington state, Leunen was drafted by Houston in the second round out of Oregon 10 years ago. His rights were traded to the Clippers in 2016.

Motley signed a two-way contract with Dallas after going undrafted out of Baylor last year. He appeared in 11 games as a rookie, averaging 8.7 points and 4.5 rebounds.

Seibutis was a second-round pick by the Mavericks in 2007. The Lithuanian has been playing professionally overseas for 16 years. Seibutis spent this past season with Spain’s Basket Zaragoza.

Dallas also signed guardforward Ding Yanyuhang, who has played professionally in China for seven years. Ding was with the Mavericks during the summer league last year.
