Pen-pricks

- BY ARGUS HAMILTON M.B. “MARV” RATHER SCOTT GARCIA

• The Wall Street Journal reports the average price of a home in California is $530,000. The average 30day apartment rent is $2,500. We don’t need a Wall to keep illegal immigrants from entering California, we have the first of the month.

• The Tour de France bicycle race had to be halted when the cyclists pedaled into a cloud of tear gas that police had sprayed into protestors. The race is a national tradition. I’m no cycling expert, but it seems to me the only way to win the Tour de France is to wear a yellow T-shirt.

• Santa Barbara passed a law joining Santa Monica to ban plastic straws. Beach cities are all banning plastic straws and plastic pipes, on top of debit cards replacing cash currency out here. All in all, this is widely seen in Los Angeles as a concerted attack on our cocaine delivery system.

I am concerned with what I feel are some dangerous pot holes in our streets that could result in injury or even death to one of our school children. I know the Yuma workforce is understaffed, overworked and sometimes lacks guidance. However, there are also times when we need to get our priorities correct.

One street area I’m really concerned about is Arizona Avenue in front of the Gila Vista and C.W. McGraw schools. The pot holes are really bad in front of these schools and are getting worse. A small automobile with 12 or 13-inch wheels could hit one of these holes and cause the driver to lose control and possibly run up on the sidewalk.

Arizona Avenue from Gila Vista school to Palo Verde South and on to Catalina West really needs to be repaired ASAP. Schools will be opening soon and I believe you would want our children walking on safe sidewalks as much as I do.

Thanking you in advance for your prompt attention of this request. I know you are busy with other city issues, but this is an issue that should, in my opinion, need your prompt attention. I want to say how very proud I am

In response to Greg Gardner’s letter into the election meddling and blaming Obama and the Democratic Party and the media except Fox News. I have some questions for him. 1) Who fired Comey because he was investigating “the Russian thing”? 2) Who wanted Comey to go easy on Flynn, who claims he is a good guy (yet has pleaded guilty)? 3) Who has sided with the Russians and believe them over our own intelligence agencies? 4) Who met with the Russians at Trump Tower to get dirt on Hillary Clinton, but tried to say it was about Russian adoptions? 5) Who boot-licked Putin at the Helsinki Summit? 6) Who is refusing to release his tax returns because it may show his financial connections to Russian (plus other shady business dealings)? Could it be President Trump and his associates? Just wondering...
