Jerry Warby, age 89, passed away of natural causes at his home in Yuma, Arizona on July 23, 2018, with family at his bedside. He was born in Green River, Wyoming on June 24, 1929 to Glen and Mabel Warby.

Daddy married the love of his life, Margaret Stacey, on November 4, 1948, in Rock Springs, Wyoming. The two soon moved to Green River, where daddy worked as a mechanic and a welder on the Union Pacific Railroad for over 40 years before he retired in 1987.

Daddy was an avid rock hound and gardener. He was widely known for his collection of fossils, the jewelry he made from stones he found, cut and polished, and pictures of old houses and churches he made with tiny pieces of petrified wood. He was also known for his lovely yards that featured beautiful flowers, thick grass, sculptured bushes and rock gardens. Daddy and Mama were snowbirds in Yuma, Arizona for over 20 years until they made their final move there in 2012.

Daddy and Mama loved to dance and were known for always holding hands, even as they slept in their recliners. Together they built a large and loving family. Daddy is survived by: his wife Margaret; his four children, Shirley Warby of Thornton, Colorado, Maurie White (Roger) of Yuma, Arizona, Karen Pilley (Steve) of Rock Springs, Wyoming and Stacey Warby of Green River, Wyoming; 7 grandchild­ren, multiple great grandchild­ren and five great-great grandchild­ren. Daddy is also survived by one sister, Darlene Shepard of Green River, Wyoming, one sister-in-law Evelyn Warby (Rudy) of Ogden, Utah, and numerous nieces and nephews whom he deeply loved and spent many joyful hours with camping, fishing and water skiing.

Daddy was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters --Karen Warby who died in infancy, Glenda Borzea (John), Patsy Wood (Jim), and his brother Rudy Warby.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Yuma, Arizona, located on the northwest corner of 14th Ave. and 16th St.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor this good and decent man with contributi­ons to: St. Paul’s parking lot fund or St. John’s Episcopal Church in Green River, Wyoming.
