Body of missing taxi driver found
A missing taxi driver has been identified as a fatal shooting victim. His body was found near Somerton, police said.
Investigators on Wednesday were still trying to identify a suspect and determine a motive in the killing of Guillermo Sotelo, 55, whose body was found the previous evening in a desert area near Highway 95 and Milepost 16.
Sotelo, a driver for Crazy 8’s Taxi Cab Co. in Yuma, turned up missing after leaving Yuma about 2:30 a.m. Monday to pick up a fare in Somerton, his daughter, Azucena Silva, said previously.
Sotelo was shot at least once, Somerton police said.
Sotelo, identified in previous reports as Guillermo Silva Toleda, was a resident of San Luis Rio Colorado, Son.
The vehicle he was driving has not been found, police said. It is described as a turquoise 2001 Honda Odyssey with Arizona license plate BZT-8406. It had a “4 aces” logo on both front doors.
Somerton police are handling the investigation of the homicide.
“Detectives believe there are individuals out there that may have information that can help solve this case,” police said in a news release. “They are asking for those individuals to come forward, and they are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect(s) responsible for this shooting.”
