BP arrests same sex offender for 2nd time this year
Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents arrested the same felony sex offender Wednesday for the second time this year. He was apprehended in March and deported through the Port of Nogales last month.
At approximately 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, Yuma Station agents arrested 55-year-old Mexican national Hector GutierrezPerez in the area of Andrade, Calif, according to information provided by agent Jose J. Garibay III of the Yuma Public Affairs Office.
During processing, agents identified Gutierrez as having multiple felony convictions out of Bakersfield and Santa Cruz, Calif., including unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor under the age of 14, obstructing a public officer, and battery on a person.
Additional record checks revealed that GutierrezPerez was also previously convicted of possession of narcotics/ controlled substance, transporting/selling of narcotics, hit and run, and driving while under the influence of alcohol/ drugs.
During questioning, Gutierrez-Perez, who will be prosecuted on a previous order of removal, admitted that he was attempting to travel to North Hollywood to live and work.
A 33-year old man from Honduras who entered the country illegally with Gutierrez-Perez will also be processed for removal.
Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents also had arrested Gutierrez-Perez on March 19 near County 8 ½ Street and Levee Road, after he illegally entered the country again.
