Fire House Facts
During the week of July 22-28, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 280 emergency calls for service, including:
• 7 general fire response
Including: A debris fire near a building, and various alarms.
• 1 mutual aid
Including: Called to assist Rural Metro with an emergency medical run in the Foothills.
• 16 motor vehicle crashes
Including: 1 involving a bicyclist, 1 involving a wall, and 1 head-on crash.
• 232 other medical emergencies (serious to minor)
Including: 19 for difficulty breathing, 13 for chest pain, 31 for falls, 12 for unconscious people, 9 seizure cases, 3 possible stroke cases, 5 for intoxicated persons, 2 for people under the influence of drugs, 1 for a drug overdose, 15 for people with psychiatric problems, 9 for dehydration or heat illness, 4 for medical alarms, 1 for child locked in vehicle, 2 for allergic reactions, 1 for choking, 14 for altered or decreased level of consciousness, 1 for broken bones, 4 for diabetic emergency, 13 for man down calls, 3 for uncontrolled bleeding, 3 for bad headaches, 3 for assaults, 3 for back pain, 8 for abdominal pain, 2 pregnancy related, 1 for deceased person, 4 for withdrawals (2 from opioids and 2 from alcohol), 1 for lacerations, 1 for fingers caught in a door, and other illnesses and injuries.

Including: 1 to assist YPD with a biohazard clean-up of a crime scene, 1 for a ring stuck on a finger, 1 for a pile of clothes set on fire, 1 for a person stuck in an elevator, 1 for a snake removal, 1 small brush fire, 1 fire in the load of a trash truck, 1 for power lines down, 1 tree fire, 2 vehicle fires, 1 for a fuel spill, and various alarms.
