George Christopher posted 9.57 points to win first place in the Mesa Del Sol quota points mixed play on Monday morning with Garry Sletten in second place with 3.9 points. Marilyn Cotter finished in third and Tim Segrest in fourth. The skin winners were Shannon Mason, Hank Browning, Robert Lauer, Garry Sletten and Garrett McKeeman.
The next Desert Hills Men’s Golf Association monthly tournament will be played on Saturday with tee times starting at 8 a.m. The format will be a gross and net two-person best ball with a minimum of 16 stroke spread.
On Tuesday morning at the Las Barrancas Golf Course, the Silver League gross score winners were Bill Taylor and Jack Joseph. The net score winners were Michael Costello and Larry Villa. The team winners were Carl Riggs, John Cullen, Greg Beatie and Frankie Allen.
Raymond Butler was the first-place winner in the Mesa Del Sol Pinky’s Pick weekly mixed play on Wednesday morning with Sam Samples finishing in second and Bill Dowding in third. The skin winners were Bill Dowding, Sam Samples, Al Johnson, David Doherty, Garry Sletten and George Christopher.
On Wednesday morning at the Foothills Executive Golf Course, the men’s league gross score winners were Bill Taylor, Al Smith and Michael Costello. The net score winners were Ken Kingston, Al Pittman and Bob Selle.
On Thursday morning at the Las Barrancas Golf Course, the Copper League gross score winners were John Cullen, Bill Taylor and Mark Hammons. The net score winners were Jack Joseph, Larry Villa and Fred Okerholm.
A Gila Ridge Golf Team Fundraising Golf Tournament will be played on Aug. 18 at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course. The format is a four-person, two-best ball shamble with gross and net winners. Entry fees and a sponsorship for a team is $400. Proceeds go towards equipment and travel expenses for the Gila Ridge High School Golf program. Entry forms are available at the Mesa Del Sol Pro Shop.
In the Mesa Del Sol Thursday Twilight League, Bill Dowding and Mike Bedoya tied Don Hodgin and Josh Wood with a score of 25 in the net best ball format. Mark and Nolan Ford tied Dave Hodgin and Allen Raney for third at 26. Events are open to women and men. Next week’s format is two-person net scramble from unusual tee locations. Cost is $30 per player and includes bar snacks after play. Play begins at 5 p.m.
Shannon Mason was the gross division winner in the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course MGA mixed Modified Stableford pro points play on Friday morning. Bill Dowding was the winner of the net division with Pinky Throckmorton in second, Tami Harmon in third and Garry Sletten in fourth. The skin winners were Harry McKemy, Shannon Mason, Bill Dowding, Pinky Throckmorton, Harry McKemy and Sam Samples.
