Fire House Facts
During the week of Aug. 5-11, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 273 emergency calls for service, including:
• 9 general fire response
Including: A gas line in an alley broken by a construction crew, a vehicle fire, a lawn mower on fire, a flower pot on fire and various alarms.
• 2 mutual aid
Including: Called to assist Imperial County with a field fire and a trailer fire in Winterhaven, California.
• 13 motor vehicle crashes
Including: 1 involving a pedestrian, and 1 involving a bicyclist.
• 230 other medical emergencies (serious to minor)
Including: 19 for difficulty breathing, 17 for chest pain, 22 for falls, 9 for unconscious people, 7 seizure cases, 6 possible stroke cases, 5 for intoxicated persons, 3 for people under the influence of drugs, 1 for a drug overdose, 17 for people with psychiatric problems, 4 for dehydration or heat illness, 2 for medical alarms, 1 for child locked in vehicle, 2 for allergic reactions,14 for altered or decreased level of consciousness, 3 for fevers, 5 for diabetic emergency, 1 scorpion sting, 4 for man down calls, 1 for uncontrolled bleeding, 4 for bad headaches, 1 for a gunshot wound, 1 for a 1 yr. old who swallowed bleach, 1 for a person who inhaled insecticide, 7 for assaults, 2 for back pain, 8 for abdominal pain, 10 pregnancy related, 1 for deceased person, 4 for lacerations, and other illnesses and injuries.

Including: 1 for an alley fire, 1 for a damaged power pole, 1 for assisting YPD with a bio-hazard clean-up from a crash scene, 1 for a brush fire along the mail canal, 2 for vehicle fires, 1 for an illegal trash fire, and various alarms.
