Mark Pancrazi and Mike Covey posted a best ball score of 64 to win the gross division of the Desert Hills Men’s Invitation­al Tournament last Saturday morning. Second place in the gross division went to the team of John Baas and Christain Gallegos with a best ball 66, while third place went to Richie Valenzuela and Bill Bort with a best ball 69. Jeremy Caddell and Tark Rush won the net division with a best ball 60 followed by Gabe Plaza and JC Salazar in second with a 62. Third place in the net division went to the team of Gabe Rico and Dennis Barrager with a best ball 63. The team skin winners were Gabe Plaza and JC Salazar, Felix Ochoa and Steve Hobbs, and Ricky Rinehart and Greg Wilkinson. The KP team winners were Gabe Plaza and JC Salazar, Josh Welch and Joey Catanzaro, Dennis Barrager and Gabe Rico, and Richie Valenzuela and Bill Bort. Closest to the pin, in three shots, on the 16th hole went to Gabe Rico.

Hank Browning posted 2.84 quota points to win first place in the weekly mixed quota play at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course on Monday morning. Second place went to Bob Lauer with 2.19 points, third place went to John Chambell with 2.0 points and fourth place went to George Christophe­r with 1.70 points. The skin winners were Jack Parker, Bill Slade, George Christophe­r, Hank Browning, Garrett McKeeman and Ray Butler.

On Tuesday at the Las Barrancas Golf Course, the Silver League gross score winners were John Cullen and Brian Healy. The net score winners were Jack Joseph and Conrad Eisenach. The team winners were Mark Parks, Carl Riggs, Frankie Allen and Greg Beatie.

The gross and net skin winners in the Wednesday morning “Pinky’s Pick” mixed play at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course were Bill Slade, Jack Parker, George Christophe­r, Ray Butler, Pam Herring, Hank Browning and Bruce Barchus.

On Wednesday at The Foothills Executive Golf Course, the Men’s League gross score winners were Bill Taylor, Ken Kingston and Michael Costello. The net score winners were Greg Beatie, Rick Wilcox and Paul McLaughlin.

In the Mesa Del Sol Thursday Twilight League play, the teams of Denney McKay and Mike Daily, Mitch Lebrecht and Garrett McKeeman, and Marty Tovaas and Steve Olafson all tied for first place at 31 in the two-person scramble from unusual tee placements. Two teams tied at 32 in the extremely close competitio­n. Events are open to women and men. Next week’s format is two-person net shamble. The cost is $30 per player and includes bar snacks after play. Play begins at 5 p.m.

On Thursday at the Las Barrancas Golf Course, the Copper League gross score winners were Brian Healy, Mark Hammons and Jack Joseph. The net winners were Al Pittman, Larry Villa and Mark Parks.

The annual Yuma County Open Golf Tournament is scheduled for Labor Day weekend, Sept. 1-3. Play will take place at Mesa Del Sol on Saturday, Las Barrancas on Sunday and Desert Hills on Monday. Juniors, women and men are invited to participat­e. Formats include a two-person best ball play on Saturday and Sunday and a concurrent Individual Stroke Play competitio­n all three days. Entry forms are available in the pro shops at all three golf courses.
