NFL needs to remember where freedom came from

-

With the NFL training camps getting underway, I must remind each and every one on social media that unless the commissioner, owners and players get their collective heads out of their you-know-what, fan support and operating revenue may and should try up. If, as an employee of any organization, you have a complaint about what you see as a “social injustice” pull up your big boy chones (skivvies, BVDs or underwear) and deal with it on your time. When you’re in uniform, you are on company time. You want to show your foolishness, not to mention your ignorance, get up early on Monday morning and do so. Most of America does not feel your pain.

You play a game one day a week and you are paid more than most of us will earn in a lifetime. To the team owners I have to ask, how much money did your franchise lose last season? How much more are you willing to lose this season? Not real good business management. You owners had control at one time, you must take control again. The players work for you. If the player’s actions are affecting your business bottom line, get rid of them. Send them packing. Oh sure, the players union will scream and shout, but so what? That union can be broken also. Next to the owners I say, fire that gutless wonder known as commissioner. He is paid far more than he or any sports figure should be paid. Get that guy away from the NFL and take actions to keep him away. He is bad for the game.

So owners, the game of football on all levels is enjoyable. Whether it be Pop Warner, Friday nights under high school lights, Saturday afternoon college football or the NFL, America loves football. We love football almost as much as we love our freedoms. Gentlemen, we never forget where freedom came from and who proudly put on their own uniforms to insure everyone is able to enjoy a football.

As I wait to hear back from NFL owners, I hear voices singing “Cheer, cheer of old Notre Dame, Wake up the echoes cheering her name”… GREGORY GARDNER Yuma
