Suspect in Illinois killing nabbed in Yuma
YPD assists task force; man surrenders after barricading himself in home
A man sought in a Chicago homicide has been arrested in Yuma, authorities said Sunday.
With help from the Yuma Police Department’s Special Enforcement Team, the WANTED Violent Offender Task Force — led by the United States Marshals Service — arrested Isaiah Brown in the killing of Jermarion Jackson. Brown was captured after a crosscountry manhunt that ended in the 4700 block of West 27th Lane in Yuma on Friday evening.
According to a news release from U.S. Marshals Office, Brown barricaded himself in a residence. The special enforcement team was able to get him to safely surrender without incident.
“The arrest of Isaiah Brown demonstrates the hard work of investigators and the strength of law enforcement partnerships to ensure that fugitives will be brought to justice,” said United States Marshal David Gonzales in the release. “The United States Marshals Service and Yuma Police Department are proud to help safely capture this dangerous fugitive and return him to Chicago to face the charges that await him.”
In May, the release states, the Chicago Police Department came to the Great Lakes Fugitive Task Force (also led by the United States Marshals Service) and asked for help in arresting Brown in the April 29, 2018, death of Jackson, launching a nationwide manhunt for the fugitive.
Brown was transported to the Yuma County Adult Detention Center to await extradition back to Illinois.
