Vegetable association hires new manager
The Yuma Fresh Vegetable Association has hired Amy McCain Karvoski as its new association manager. She follows in the footsteps of Bruce Gwynn, who recently retired.
Karvoski’s degree is in education. She serves on the Yuma County Fair’s Junior Livestock Committee and is very active as a 4-H leader. Her experience includes work in commercial citrus production. She can be reached at 928-783-9355.

YRMC has new surgeon, nurse practitioner
Dr. Norma Walks recently joined the General Surgery staff at Yuma Regional Medical Center. Walks earned her medical degree from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minn. She conducted residencies at Cleveland Clinic and University of Arizona Department of General Surgery. She is board certified by the American Board of Surgery.
Her work experience includes time serving in General Surgery at hospitals in Minnesota, South Dakota and Iowa.
Abri Johnson, a family nurse practitioner, recently joined the staff at YRMC. She earned her master’s degree in nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing in Downers Grove, Ill. She will work in family medicine as a hospitalist at YRMC.
