A public safety pay plan and impact fees are on the agenda for meetings of the Yuma City Council this week. The council will discuss these issues during a work session held at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Human Resources Director Monica Welch will present a compensation and pay plan overview and Police Chief John Lekan and Fire Chief Steve Irr will talk about specific pay plans for the police and fire departments.

Then the council will discuss impact fees with staff, followed by a presentation by Yuma County Juvenile Justice Center Director Tim Hardy on Kids at Hope.

The council will then discuss items on the agenda for the regular meeting to be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Under the consent agenda is a $2.5 million contract for construction services for the Figueroa Avenue Water Pollution Control Facility to Mac Electric of Yuma and a $25,000 grant award from Arizona Complete Health to support the city’s Emergency Home Repair Program.

In addition, the consent agenda includes a special use permit to Yuma River Tubing for use of city property and six subrecipient agreements totaling $121,250 in Community Development Block Grant funds in accordance with the 2018 Annual Action Plan.

Resolutions on the agenda include order Improvements for Municipal Improvement Districts serving Desert Sky Unit 1 and Park West Units 4 and 5 and a preannexation development agreement with McDonald’s Real Estate Company for a property located at 1195 E. 16th St.

One ordinance will be introduced to the council, which will declare 3.85 acres of city-owned real property on the southwest corner of 16th Street and 4th Avenue as surplus, preserving the established aesthetic easement, and authorize the sale, lease or exchange of the property.

The council will hold a public hearing on a request to amend the General Plan for property located at 1421 S. Avenue B. The agenda calls for a denial of the request to change the designation from Medium Density Residential to High Density Residential. The applicant is South Avenue B LLC.

The meetings will be held in the City Hall Council Chambers, 1 City Plaza. View the complete agenda and staff reports at www. yumaaz.gov.
