Antelope crushes San Carlos; Kofa falls again

Antelope got back on the winning track Friday night as the Rams thrashed San Carlos (1-4 AIA).

A balanced attacked helped the Rams (4-2 overall) pull away to win 46-0.

The team was led by sophomore running back William Whitley with four touchdowns. He finished with 140 yards on the ground and 73 receiving.

Sophomore quarterbac­k Trey Hohlbein was 18-for-23 with 124 passing yards and a rushing touchdown.

Junior defensive back Kristopher Reyes also had a big game with two picks and a rushing touchdown.

“We threw the ball well at times and we ran the ball well,” Antelope coach Gary Mauldin said. “Everything kind of came together, even though we had three starters out.”

Antelope enters region play next week at home against Veritas Prep. Mauldin sees the region as wide open as the teams go into the second half of the season.

“I think the parity level between us and the other

teams in the region are pretty even,” he said. “I think its wide open right now for the region. We’re excited to get into region play.”

The Bulldogs’ option attack gave Kofa some fits early in the game while they fell behind 14-0 after the first quarter.
