YPD: 3 transported to YRMC after crash

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

Three people, two of which sustained serious injuries, were transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC) following a motor vehicle collision in the intersection of 32nd Street and Avenue 4E on Friday night, Yuma police say.

According to the Yuma Police Department’s (YPD) press release, at approximately 6:08 p.m. officers responded to the crash. Yuma police say that the initial investigation revealed a 2005 Dodge Neon, driven by an 18-year-old male, was traveling northbound on Avenue 4E.

The release shows that a 2013 Nissan Murano, driven by a 67-year-old male, was traveling westbound on 32nd Street.

“The vehicles collided in the intersection, causing a 17-year-old female passenger in the Dodge Neon to be ejected from the vehicle,” Yuma police say.

The release also states that all three occupants of the vehicles were transported to YRMC. Yuma police report that the 17-year-old passenger and the 67-year-old driver were later flown out to a Phoenix hospital with serious, nonlife threatening injuries.

“All are considered to be in stable condition,” Yuma police say.

While the scene was processed, the area of 32nd Street and Avenue 4E was closed for a few hours.

The case is still under investigation. Yuma police say alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in this collision.

The Yuma Police Department Traffic Division wishes to remind drivers to obey all traffic signals. Additionally, the department notes that all drivers and passengers should always wear a seat belt while traveling in a motor vehicle.

YPD encourages anyone with any information about this case to contact their department at (928) 373-4700 or 78-Crime at (928) 782-7463 to remain anonymous.
