New nail salon, laundromat open

Automotive center moving; mobile home park under new ownership

Fall is when many seasonal businesses reopen, but I’m happy to see new businesses opening their doors as well. There are also a couple of businesses with new owners or a new location this week.

Van and Wally Ly have opened their own nail salon, Van’s Nails and Spa Plus, 11855 S. Fortuna Road, Suite 1, at the south end of Fortuna Road, between the Salvation Army and Four Paws Inn and Grooming.

They offer all the usual nail services, including manicures and pedicures for women and men as well as full set nails, facials and waxing.

Van has numerous certifications for many different skills, and Wally has been described as an amazing artist. They bought and took over the salon on Sept. 1, but they both have 15 years experi- ence working at another Foothills salon.

“They’re very friendly,” said customer Nancy Wyant, who was there getting her toes done during my visit. “They’re longtime Foothills residents and they’re not going anywhere.”

The salon offers customers loyalty cards; when stamped five times, customers get a $5 discount. They take appointments and welcome walk-ins.

Their hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. It’s closed on Sunday.

To make an appointment or for more information, call 928-342-1523 *** The Foothills laundry facility formerly called 8E Laundry, which closed a few months ago, has reopened with a new owner and a new name.

Foothills Laundromat is owned by Tom Cockburn and is located at 3325 S. Avenue 8E, near the Foothills Walmart and next to Jen’s Nails. Cockburn also owns the Foothills Laundromat
