Gila Ridge, Cibola girls swim meet ends in tie

Hawks get win on boys side

The area’s top two swim programs met Thursday at Valley Aquatic Center, and the girls meet between Gila Ridge and Cibola ended in a tie while the Hawks earned the victory on the boys side.

Both girls teams scored 85 points. For boys, Gila Ridge defeated the Raiders 110-67.

In the girls meet, each team won six events.

For the Gila Ridge girls, Sydney Tunell won the 50 free (25.92) and 100 fly (1:04.12), Grace Crumby won the 100 free (1:03.54) and Taylor Poole won 1-meter diving (125.85). The Hawks won the 200 medley relay (2:03.03) and the 200 free relay (1:50.64).

For the Cibola girls, Sidney Quinn won the 200 free (2:20.44) and the 500 free (6:16.41), Emma Amon won the 200 IM (2:20.40) and the 100 breast (1:10.29), and Norris Allen won the 100 back (1:13.21). The Raiders won the 400 free relay (4:29.76).

Gila Ridge won 10 of 12 events in the boys meet. Devon Wheeler won the 200 free (1:56.38) and the 500 free (5:24.09), Talen Osborn won the 50 free (23.04) and the 100 fly (54.02), Ira Evans won the 200 IM (2:07.36), Miko Lamayo won the 100 free (52.90) and Jessip Salizzoni won the 100 breast (1:04.81). The Hawks won the 200 medley relay (1:46.97), the 200 free relay (1:39.11) and the 400 free relay (3:30.10).

Ayden Dusek, who won the 100 back (51.19) and the 1-meter diving (151.05), was the only Cibola boys winner.

Both teams will swim at invites today. The Raiders have the Crim Swim at Valley Aquatic Center, while the Hawks are going to the Thunder Pitchfork Invite at Arizona State.
