Senators’ behavior was odious during hearing

-

From my perspective, whether you’re a Republican, Democrat, Independent, whatever, the behavior of some of the Democratic senators since President Trump nominated Judge Kavanaugh for the SCOTUS, beginning only minutes after it was announced, should give you pause.

The Senate hearings were nothing short of reprehensible! The basic rule of law in this country — innocent until proven guilty — was blatantly ignored, and politics took precedence over common decency. That should be of concern to all of us, unless one thinks ideology is more important than our Constitution.

The approval rating for Congress is very low; the majority of American people have lost confidence in them — both parties — but to any reasonable person the Democrats on the judiciary committee, along with minority leader Chuck Schumer, made themselves look foolish, dishonest, and shamelessly willing to discredit/destroy anyone who doesn’t fit their ideological mold. They couldn’t find fault with Kavanaugh’s jurisprudence so they resorted to his teenage years, looking for something/anything they could use. They even threw their own witness, Dr. Ford, under the bus.

Adding to the odious behavior of those senators are the actions of leftwing demonstrations, interruptions etc which should also cause concern for all of us. How long are we going to tolerate George Soros-sponsored hooligans to disrupt our lives? Is that what we want in our country? How many remember, as do I, when we could have differing political opinions and remain friends?

One of the few good things that came as a result of the “Kavanaugh situation” was the speech made by Senator Collins of Maine. I encourage anyone/everyone to research it and listen to it. It was one of the best speeches I have ever heard — it demonstrates how decision makers should go about their business. GENE LEMON Yuma
