Fire House Facts
During the week of Sept. 30-Oct. 6, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 406 emergency calls for service, including:
• 40 General Fire Response
Including: 1 for smoke in a residence, 2 for blown power transformers, 2 for trees on fire, 1 for a damaged gas line, 1 for a carport roof torn off, 1 for a caved in garage roof, 4 for trees on houses, 4 for power lines down, 1 for an electrical fan fire, and various alarms.
• 1 Mutual Aid
Including: Assisting Rural Metro with a medical emergency in the Foothills.
• 23 Motor Vehicle Crashes
Including: 1 involving 4 vehicles, 1 involving a bicycle, 1 involving a motorcycle, 1 rollover, 1 involving a pedestrian, and 1 involving a light pole.
• 259 Other Medical Emergencies (serious to minor)
Including: 33 for difficulty breathing, 17 for chest pain, 33 fall victims, 16 unconscious people, 10 seizure cases, 3 possible stroke cases, 9 for intoxicated persons, 3 persons under the influence of drugs, 1 overdose case, 20 people with psychiatric problems, 2 for heat illness, 2 medical alarms, 3 for children locked in vehicles, 10 for altered or decreased level of consciousness, 2 for fevers, 6 for diabetic emergencies, 1 for multiple bee stings, 6 for “man down” calls, 1 for uncontrolled bleeding, 4 for bad headaches, 1 for a 9 year old who inhaled an aerosol, 2 for assaults, 5 for back pain, 9 for abdominal pain, 1 pregnancy related, 1 for a deceased person, 3 for lacerations, 1 person injured punching a wall, 1 person injured running into a wall, 2 for amputated fingers, 1 for checking for people on a river float down during the storm, 1 for a wheelchair stuck in a doorway, 1 for vehicles stuck in rising water, and other illnesses and injuries.
