- BY JAMES GILBERT @YSJAMESGILBERT

Another hearing for the man charged in connection to an armed robbery and vehicle pursuit had to be rescheduled Tuesday morning in Yuma County Superior Court.

Attorney who Michael represents Donovan, 23-year-old Adrian Guzman, informed the court, when asked to provide an update on the status of the case, that a settlement has been held but he is still waiting to speak with the prosecutor assigned to the case.

He added, however, that he expected the meeting would take place very soon.

Superior Court Judge Stephen Rouff, who is presiding over the case, granted Donovan’s request and scheduled Guzman’s next hearing for 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 20.

in County Guzman, custody jail who at on the a remains $200,000 Yuma cash-only bond, has been charged with eight felony offenses in a June robbery of the UPS facility located at 2851 S. Avenue 2½ E, including one count of unlawful flight from pursuing law enforcement.

He has also been charged with four counts of aggravated assault, one count of armed robbery, one count

of aggravated robbery, and one count of possession of a weapon by a prohibited possessor.

At Guzman’s previous hearing in August, Donovan mentioned that he had just been informed that a plea offer had been written. It was not available because the prosecution was still waiting for victim notification.

According to Yuma police, at around 8:30 p.m. on May 30, officers were sent to the UPS facility at 2851 S. Avenue 2½ E in reference to a robbery.

Officers learned that two male subjects attempted to steal packages from the facility. During the incident, a handgun was reportedly pointed at employees and the suspects left with several packages.

The suspects fled the scene in a dark passenger car. Witnesses were able to obtain the car’s license plate number.

Approximately 30 minutes later, officers spotted the vehicle and attempted to pull it over, but the driver refused to stop.

A pursuit ensued, and the vehicle was eventually brought to a stop on the 16th Street exit ramp from I-8. Guzman was reportedly the sole occupant of the vehicle and was taken into custody.
