Fire House Facts
During the week of Oct. 7-13, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 308 emergency calls for service, including:
• 18 General Fire Response
Including: 2 for strong gas smells, 1 for an oven fire, 1 for a stove top fire, 1 for illegal trash burning, 1 for a fire in a vacant motel, and various alarms.
• 20 Motor Vehicle Crashes
Including: 2 rollovers, 2 involving walls, and 1 reported as headon.
• 251 Other Medical Emergencies (serious to minor)
Including: 33 for difficulty breathing, 21 for chest pain, 37 fall victims, 13 unconscious people, 6 seizure cases, 3 possible stroke cases, 3 for intoxicated persons, 3 persons under the influence of drugs, 6 overdose cases, 19 people with psychiatric problems, 5 medical alarms, 2 for children locked in vehicles, 1 for choking, 6 for altered or decreased level of consciousness, 2 for fevers, 1 for broken bones, 7 for diabetic emergencies, 1 for a dog bite, 1 for a human bite, 12 for “man down” calls, 4 for bad headaches, 4 for assaults, 6 for back pain, 9 for abdominal pain, 7 pregnancy related, 3 for lacerations, 1 for a person injured by a falling tree they were cutting down, 1 for a foot injured by a falling safe, 1 for a person stuck on a roof, and other illnesses and injuries.

Including: 1 for arcing wires, 1 for a bonfire in a backyard, and various alarms.
