Sheltra Insurance sponsoring today’s Cut for a Cause

Sheltra Insurance Group is sponsoring the 10th annual Cut for the Cause Hair cutting event Sunday, Oct. 21, from 1-4 p.m. at the Yuma Regional Medical Center Cancer Center.

Five stylists are volunteering their time to this cause, including a barber for men and/or persons with less than the 8 inches who want to still participate with a $20 tax-deductible donation to get a cut.

All proceeds go directly to the local American Cancer Society Cancer Resource Center in Yuma. The donated hair will be used to make wigs for cancer patients. Each participant will receive a “free basic hair-cut” for donating their time and their hair to this cause. The event is on a “first-come, first-cut” basis until it reaches capacity or 4 p.m.

In addition, tickets will be on sale for raffle items and colorful cancer ribbons will also be on sale for $1 each. A drop box for donating previously used wigs, hats and scarfs will be available. Liquid nutrition can also be donated.

Everyone is encouraged to stop by and show their support and visit with the ACS Cancer Resource Center volunteers. The theme each year will be a “Rainbow,” so the public is invited to wear the color of the type of cancer that means something to them or someone they support.

Sheltra Insurance is hosting this community event in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and for those fighting all types of cancer every day. The business celebrates the anniversary of its Yuma opening in 2004 by sponsoring this annual event, now since 2008.
