Ducey, McSally to hold rally tonight

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

Gov. Doug Ducey, Rep. Martha McSally and other Republican candidates in Tuesday’s election will appear tonight at a “get out the vote” rally in downtown Yuma.

The event will be held 4-5:30 p.m. at the Kress Ultra Lounge at 284 S. Main St., upstairs from Da Boyz Italian Cuisine.

Arizona Republican Party Chairman Jonathan Lines of Yuma will also be featured at the event, along with Frank Riggs, who is vying to be the state’s superintendent of public instruction.

Ben Petersen, a spokesman for Ducey’s campaign, said State Treasurer nominee Kimberly Yee may also be there, but that it hadn’t been confirmed as of Friday afternoon.

Yuma is one of 10 cities the governor and his fellow politicians are hitting in the last weekend before the widely anticipated election, a midterm in which the GOP could lose its dominance over Congress.

McSally is in one of the tightest contests nationwide as she fights over the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Jeff Flake with another U.S. House member from Arizona, Kyrsten Sinema.

The most recent polling by Harris International has McSally leading by seven points, but the Five Thirty Eight website, which aggregates polls and other data, gives Sinema a slight edge.

Vice President Mike Pence headlined a McSally rally at Yuma International Airport on Oct. 26.
