Today is important for nation going forward

-

Tuesday, Nov. 6 is pretty much important for our nation going forward.

The challenge is to choose whether we continue the course of economic prosperity or turn back the clock to the malaise of the Obama years.

Economic growth has been the rock of our country finally realizing it’s true potential. Give credit to Trump or not, but the wheels of growth are in full bloom. The old adage that a rising tide lifts all boats is certainly applicable for the current economic environment. After years of malaise and indifference, the long-term unemployed are finding opportunity, businesses are investing in capital improvements and workforce growth, several factories that have been shuttered for years are being revitalized and the often targeted middle class are finding a few more dollars in their pockets.

Years of punitive taxation and regulatory uncertainty shackled the entrepreneurial spirit. America weathered the storm in hopes of a brighter day. A roll of the dice perhaps, but this is what Americans do. They endeavor to overcome. They persevere.

Political ideologues are the Kryptonite of effervescent economic activity. They hinder entrepreneurs in their risk taking ventures to establish and innovate in a free market economy. One only needs to look at the resulting consequences in Venezuela to recognize the dangers of government economic control of the sources of production and the fascist takeover of the dissemination of information. Wonder how many Hollywood celebrities are booking their summer vacations in Caracas? Good times.

Recent tariffs introduced by the Trump administration may hinder future economic growth to an extent. It’s difficult to know how things will play out.

That being said, the engine is chugging once again. RUSTY WASHUM Yuma
