Chamber warns of scams targeting local businesses
The Yuma County Chamber of Commerce is warning members and the community about two possible scams. The first one involves an email with the subject line “URGENT: Approved Business Directory List.”
The body says: “Kindly confirm your Company/ Business name in YUMA County Business Directory as approved” and it’s signed by an actual chamber staff member, but it’s not from the chamber. The chamber is urging recipients of this email not to click on any links or open any files attached to this email.
The chamber office has also received phone calls from concerned businesses who are being asked to purchase ads in “Global Graphics And Design’s Annual Destination Visitor’s/Newcomers Magazine,” falsely stating that these publications are distributed by the Yuma County Chamber of Commerce and Yuma Visitors Bureau.
The chamber warns that this publication is not locally based nor is it distributed by the chamber or bureau. These local organizations are not affiliated with the company nor distribute their materials, the chamber said.
For more information, call the chamber office at 928-782-2567 or email to info@yumachamber.org.
