- City Street Maintenanc­e Other utility projects and encroachme­nt permits

The City Council recently approved a contract for improvemen­ts to 4th Avenue between 32nd Street and 40th Street. Work is expected to begin this month. This project will reconstruc­t the roadway pavement section to meet current city standards, and will address other related needs including updating streetligh­ts, addition of a continuous center two-way left turn lane, installati­on of a sewer manhole, and pedestrian safety enhancemen­ts (multiuse pathway improvemen­ts and new crosswalks).

Asphalt maintenanc­e operations for the week of Nov. 19-23 are as follows:

• Arizona Avenue, 16th Street to 18th Street (crack seal).

• Savant Estates subdivisio­n (crack seal).

• 8th Avenue, 24th Street to 32nd Street (crack seal).

• Ellington Ranch subdivisio­n (crack seal).

• 3rd Street and S. Magnolia Avenue intersecti­on (grinding).

Lane restrictio­ns on US 95 in Yuma (ADOT)

ADOT advises drivers to plan ahead for lane restrictio­ns on US 95 that start Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 7:30 a.m. Maintenanc­e work is scheduled to occur from Avenue 11E (milepost 34) to milepost 74 as crews apply a crack seal on that 40-mile stretch of the roadway. The following restrictio­ns will be in place Nov. 13-30:

• US 95 will be reduced to just one lane during the week from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (*restrictio­ns will be lifted Nov. 21-23 due to the Thanksgivi­ng holiday).

• A two-mile lane closure will be in place daily as workers progress through the 40-mile work zone.

• A 12-foot vehicle width restrictio­n will be in place.

• Flaggers and a pilot truck will be on site to direct motorists through the area.

Delays are likely, please allocate extra travel time. Drivers are asked to please obey posted speed limits and traffic control devices.

A lane closure will be in place along Avenue 3E near 40th Street as early as Nov. 16 for a Century Link project that will last through Jan. 16.

A project to replace a vintage steel main line is underway on Avenue B. This will require a lane closure on Avenue B, from 8th Street to 16th Stret. One lane will remain open in each direction along Avenue B while the project is underway. Signs will be posted to alert drivers of the upcoming closure as they approach the work zone. Lane closures will be in place in that area. Work is expected to continue through Nov. 30.

A lane closure will be in place along Avenue 3E near 32nd Street Nov. 12 to Nov. 19 for a telecommun­ications fiber installati­on. There will be a reduced speed limit in place (25 mph).

Avenue 10E will be closed from 34th Street to Frontage Road from Oct. 24 to Feb. 1 for five days. Shoulder work will take place along Avenue 10E near Frontage Road during the same time frame.

As part of a project to replace a main line, 20th Street will be closed between 4th and Arizona Avenues during the night hours only (8 p.m. to 7 a.m.). Road closures, lane closures and detours will be in place. The project will be finished by Nov. 30.

A three-day project on Avenue B near its intersecti­on with 8th Street will require detours in place in the area, from Oct. 22 to Jan. 25. The speed limit on Avenue B will be reduced to 25 mph in that area. The contractor is to notify residents of the road work and accommodat­e access to homes, businesses, if safe to do so. During this time, crews will be installing an APS power pole on the west side of Avenue B and will be hanging an overhead line across Avenue B.

A project to install a new natural gas main line on County 12th Street (40th Street) from Avenue 5E to Avenue 7E is underway and will require lane closures, detours, and shoulder work as part of the traffic control plan that will be in place through Dec. 26. Drivers are asked to seek an alternate route and to drive with caution if going through the work zone. Additional­ly, work will be done along Avenue 3 1/2E, near its intersecti­on with County 12th Street, for a separate project. The work on this portion of the area will take place Sept. 20-Nov. 21.

Crews will be working near the intersecti­on of County 14th Street and Avenue 3E through late November. Lane closures will be in place, but no full road closures, Drivers are asked to please proceed with caution through the work zone and obey the reduced speed limits in place.

A lane closure is in place on 32nd Street near its intersecti­on with Pacific Avenue. Crews will be accessing a manhole located on the northwest side of the intersecti­on, requiring a lane closure and reduced speed limit. The project is to be completed by Nov. 24. Drivers are asked to obey the reduced speed limit and to proceed with caution.

APS will also be installing overhead crossings on 8th Street between 3rd and 4th avenues for a total of five days, sometime between Sept. 1 and Dec. 31. When crews are in the area, the work will require shoulder and sidewalk closures on 8th Avenue in that area. No road closures necessary.

Lane closures will be in place along 30th Street between Araby Road and Frontage Road, as crews access a main extension for an industrial water plant. Work is to take place between Oct. 1 and Jan. 1, 2019.

Crews will be working on 10th Street between 3rd and 4th avenues, starting as early as Sept. 1, through Dec. 31. There will not be a full road closure, but rather some lane closures and shifts.

Crews are doing maintenanc­e work on telephone cables just south of 24th Street from Arizona to Pacific avenues. Work will require the eastbound lanes of 24th Street to be closed between Arizona and Pacific avenues. Traffic control devices will be in place. The project is to be finished by Nov. 30.

Crews will be installing new Arizona Public Service (APS) conduits for a new constructi­on on 30th Street, near Araby Road, requiring a closure of 30th Street between Araby Road and Avenue 7E.
