Fire House Facts
From Sunday, Nov. 25, through Saturday, Dec. 1, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 279 emergency calls for service:
• 6 general fire response
Including: A vehicle fire, a house fire, a dumpster fire, and various alarms.
• 2 mutual aid
Including: Called to assist Rural Metro with 2 emergency medical calls in the county.
• 36 motor vehicle crashes
Including: 2 involving pedestrians, 3 rollovers, 1 reported as head-on, 1 involving an ATV, 1 involving a motorcycle, and 1 involving 3 vehicles.
• 222 other medical emergencies (serious to minor)
Including: 20 for difficulty breathing, 18 for chest pain, 27 for falls, 17 for unconscious people, 13 seizure cases, 3 possible stroke cases, 3 for intoxicated persons, 1 for persons under the influence of drugs (sick due to marijuana mixed into pudding), 2 for drug overdoses, 16 for people with psychiatric problems, 2 for medical alarms, 3 for children locked in vehicles, 1 for allergic reactions, 16 for altered or decreased level of consciousness, 6 for fevers, 3 for diabetic emergencies, 4 for man down calls, 4 for bad headaches, 1 for gunshot wounds (2 injured in reported road rage incident), 1 for a person who accidentally drank chlorine, 2 for back pain, 9 for abdominal pain, 1 pregnancy related, 1 deceased person, 2 for alcohol withdrawals, 3 for lacerations, 1 for a head injury due to falling Christmas decoration, and other illnesses and injuries
• 13 special duty, public assistance, and residential assignments
Including: 1 for assisting YPD with a biohazard clean-up at traffic crash, 2 for illegal trash burning, 1 for strong gasoline smell, 1 for gas stove’s burner accidentally left on, 1 to assist a motorist whose keys accidentally ended up on the roof of a 2 story hotel…, and various alarms.
