Kofa girls hoopers dominate Criminals

Jyannell Guerrero, Kamariah Hawkins and Reagan Goforth helped the Kofa girls basketball team pick up its first win of the season Thursday night at Yuma High.

The Kings thrashed the Criminals, 64-20.

Guerrero went off for 29 points for Kofa (1-5 AIA), while Hawkins (10 points, 13 rebounds) had a double-double and Goforth (14 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists) nearly had a triple-double.

Yuma High dropped to 0-6 with the loss.

Arlyssa Underwood secured another triple-double for the Raiders (4-0 AIA), finishing with 14 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Arianne Burgos added 14 points, while Rylee Lakey had eight points and nine rebounds.

Gila Ridge 53, San Luis 32

Jordyn Keddy (13 points), Hanah Sims (12 points) and Madi Fain (8 points) led the way for the Hawks (4-1 AIA).

YC 60, Parker 30

Taylor Walton (22 points) and Veronica Saco (10 points, 5 assists) led the way for the Shamrocks (5-0 AIA), who remained unbeaten on the season.

PREP BOYS BASKETBALL Gila Ridge 75, San Luis 37

Jamison Kay scored a team-high 17 points for the Hawks (2-3 AIA), while Jordan Stevens (15 points, 12 rebounds) posted a doubledoub­le.

PREP BOYS SOCCER Lake Havasu 5, Yuma High 3

Azarel Gonzalez, Aaron Perez and Alfonso Hernandez scored the Criminals’ (0-4 AIA) goals.

Lake Havasu (5-0 AIA) has now beaten both Yuma High and Gila Ridge (5-4 on Tuesday) this week.
