The state of our union needs repairing

The state of our union is in need of repair. This is not in reference to the President’s State of the Union address to the nation. I am speaking of the state of our union we observe and endure daily.

The state of our union will not be harmed by an “immoral” wall or barrier to protect our border. The true immorality exists with the treatment and neglect of our veterans, both homeless and those suffering from the ravages of war.

The state of our union is not in peril from adherence to the Constitution. It is endangered by misguided politicians who promote and embrace failed ideologies that have bankrupt economies, destroyed liberties, enslaved freedom-loving people and murdered millions.

Finally, the state of our union has not been damaged by the protection and respect for precious, innocent human life. It has been hijacked by a progressive mindset that willfully promotes the destruction of the same in some instances right up until the moment of birth.

The sanctity of life has been sacrificed for convenience and selfishness. Life in general has been cheapened in the pursuit of hedonism and moral relativism.

The state of our union will not be restored by a single politician, movement or government. It will only be redeemed by the transformation of hearts and minds. RUSTY WASHUM Yuma
