First Take

- By John Vaughn, Bajo El Sol editor

I remember when New England lost a Super Bowl it should have won, Tom Brady’s wife voiced none-too-nice sentiments against Patriot receivers who dropped passes and Giants fans who were rubbing salt in Brady’s wounds.

For his part, Brady kept quiet. Maybe he was already looking ahead, since the Patriots have since had three more Superbowl victories, that last one a week ago.

I guess Brady thrives off detractors, who maybe don’t appreciate his success or are still rankled by Deflategate and Spygate. I read in an interview that when he was asked about his critics, he said he loved them back.

Somewhere there is a lesson for others dealing with setbacks.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals will play New England sometime in the next two years, as Brady tries to make good on his threat to go for another Superbowl ring, so I’ll cheer on Arizona.

A lot of good that will do.
