Sunrise Optimist oratorical contest winners announced
The Sunrise Optimist Club of Yuma salutes three individuals who placed in the club’s annual oratorical competition.
Emily Kissel (center in photo above) won first prize of $150 and will advance to the Arizona District Oratorical contest to be held in Tucson in late April. Emme Smith (left) won second place and $75; Lucy Fields garnered third place and $50. All three young ladies are seniors at Gila Ridge High School.
Jillian Kravitz
Jillian Kravitz, a senior at Cibola High School, has been honored for her exemplary volunteer service with a President’s Volunteer Service award.
The award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered a significant number of hours to serve their communities and their country, was granted by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program. Kravitz was nominated for national honors this fall in recognition of her volunteer service.
The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards is sponsored by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).
