Veteran shooter Dudley joins Lakers on 1-year deal

Veteran forward Jared Dudley has agreed to a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Dudley’s representatives at Priority Sports announced the deal Tuesday.

The 33-year-old Dudley will be joining his seventh franchise for his 13rd NBA season. The San Diego native spent last season with Brooklyn, averaging 4.9 points and 2.6 rebounds while starting 25 games and mentoring the Nets’ youngsters.

While the Lakers wait to hear whether Kawhi Leonard will join LeBron James and Anthony Davis as a free agent, they added Dudley as a complementary player to their threadbare roster. Los Angeles also agreed to a one-year deal with former Suns guard Troy Daniels on Monday, according to Priority Sports.

Dudley and Daniels are both accomplished 3-point shooters who should fit well around James and Davis.

Longoria’s 2 homers, 5 RBIs help Giants past Padres

SAN DIEGO — Evan Longoria had two impressive home runs among his four hits and drove in five runs, and Kevin Pillar also had four hits for the San Francisco Giants, who beat the San Diego Padres 10-4 on Tuesday night.

The Giants, last in the NL West, have scored in double digits in three straight games for the first time since 2010. They beat Arizona 10-4 on Sunday and then routed the Padres 13-2 on Monday night.

Donovan Solano hit first career leadoff homer and Tyler Beede pitched seven impressive innings for the Giants, who won their third straight game and for the fourth time in five games. San Diego lost its third straight.

Longoria homered for the third time in two games and has nine overall. He hit one of the Giants’ three homers Monday night.

All three homers Tuesday night came off left-hander Matt Strahm (3-7), who has allowed 15 in his last seven starts and 19 this season.

Mexico outlasts Haiti 1-0 in Gold Cup semifinals

GLENDALE — Raul Jimenez scored on a penalty kick in the 93rd minute and Mexico ended Haiti’s impressive Gold Cup run in the semifinals with a 1-0 victory on Tuesday night.

Mexico dominated possession, yet could not find a way to put the finishing touches in Haiti’s end, allowing Les Grenadiers to hang around and build confidence while playing to a scoreless tie in regulation.

Jimenez was awarded a penalty kick early in the extra time after Herve Bazile took him down at the edge of the penalty box. Jimenez slow-played the penalty kick, slipping it behind Jhony Placide after the Haitian goalie dove to his right to bring the crowd to its feet.

Haiti had a final chance to tie in the 119th minute, but Mikeal Gabriel Cantave’s shot hit the crossbar and popped straight up in the air to Mexico goalie Guillermo Ochoa.

El Tri moves on to face defending champion United States or Jamaica in Sunday’s final at Chicago’s Soldier Field.

Mexico, a seven-time Gold Cup champion, arrived in the desert as an overwhelming favorite against the young, confident Haitian side.

Ranked No. 101 in the world, Haiti did not bow under the pressure of playing in its first Gold Cup semifinal or facing mighty Mexico in front of 64,000 fans who made it feel like a home match for El Tri.

LYON, France — With Alex Morgan’s cheeky tea-sipping celebration and a postgame mobbing of goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher, the United States has moved a step closer to successfully defending its latest Women’s World Cup title.

Morgan scored the go-ahead goal and Naeher preserved the 2-1 semifinal victory over England by smothering a late penalty kick Tuesday night.

The top-ranked United States will now face the winner of Wednesday’s semifinal between the Netherlands and Sweden in the Americans’ third straight appearance in the World Cup title match.

Christen Press — who started with Megan Rapinoe out with a hamstring injury — put the United States up early, but Ellen White’s goal tied it before 20 minutes had passed. Morgan’s sixth goal of the tournament came before the break, and on her 30th birthday. She hadn’t had a goal since she scored five in the team’s 13-0 rout of Thailand to open the tournament.

After her goal, Morgan pantomimed a sip of tea on the field.

“I feel like this team just has had so much thrown at us, and I felt that we didn’t take the easy route to the final this tournament, and that’s the tea,” she said.

White’s goal was also her sixth but Morgan has the edge for the tournament’s Golden Boot with three assists. White appeared to score her seventh in the 69th min
