Mueller’s history lost behind testimony

-

I just watched Special Counsel Bob Mueller testify before two congressional committees and I’ve come away with three thoughts.

First, Jerry Nadler and Adam Schiff along with about 99.9% of Democrats on the hill probably wish they hadn’t forced Mueller to testify. The one Democrat in the house who must be happy tonight is Nancy Pelosi. Because of what Mueller said and didn’t say during the hearings, the speaker no longer has to worry about calls for impeachment.

Second thought I have is that Robert Mueller did not write the “Mueller Report.” It was painful to watch this man with his storied background struggle to answer questions asked by the lawmakers.

Third, Robert Mueller is a Marine. As a young Marine Corps Officer serving in South Vietnam, Second Lieutenant, Robert Mueller served as platoon commander for 2nd Plt, H Company, 2nd Bn, 4th Marines, 3rd Marine Division. On Dec. 11, 1968, one day after I reported to MCRD San Diego, during an engagement in Operation Scotland II, Mueller rescued a wounded Marine under enemy fire, earning him the Bronze Star with Combat “V” for Valor. Capt. Mueller also earned a Purple Heart Award, two Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medals with Combat “V”, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four service stars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Parachutist Badge.

So, you see, while Bob Mueller and I may have different views and opinions as to our Commander in Chief, it pains me to know that history books will remember Mueller, not for his actions as a Marine, but for his inactions as Special Counsel.

Semper Fi Marine…
