Fire House Facts
From Sunday, July 28, through Saturday, Aug. 3, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 260 emergency calls for service, including:
• 6 General Fire Response
Including: 1 for an alley fire caused by a downed power line, 1 for smoke in a building caused by a bad refrigerator motor, 1 for a broken gas line, and various alarms.
• 3 Mutual Aid
Including: 1 called to assist Imperial County with a brush fire near the Andrade POE, 1 to assist Rural Metro with an ATV crash in the Foothills, 1 to assist Rural Metro with a ladder truck for a person hanging from an overpass.
• 18 Motor Vehicle Crashes
Including: 2 involving pedestrians, 2 involving a fence, 1 involving a building, 1 involving 5 vehicles,1 involving a rollover, and 1 involving a bicyclist.
• 218 Other Medical Emergencies (serious to minor)
Including: 20 for difficulty breathing, 21 for chest pain, 34 for falls, 14 for unconscious people, 7 seizure cases, 3 possible stroke cases, 2 drug overdoses, 3 for intoxicated persons, 3 for persons under the influence of drugs, 13 for people with psychiatric problems, 1 heat related case, 4 for medical alarms, 2 for children locked in vehicles, 1 for choking, 11 for altered or decreased level of consciousness, 2 diabetic emergencies, 12 for man down calls, 4 for bad headaches, 2 for gunshot wounds, 3 for assaults, 2 for back pain, 9 for abdominal pain, 2 for deceased persons, 1 for lacerations, 1 for a person whose wrist was cut by a saw, 1 for a lacerated hand from being in a meat grinder, 1 for a near drowning incident in a canal, and other illnesses and injuries.

Including: 1 for a person stuck in a home due to a stuck door, 1 for a garbage truck on fire, 1 for a strange smell in house, 2 for trash fires, 1 for a small brush fire, 1 for a haystack fire, 1 vehicle fire, and various alarms.
