• New York former mayor and Bloomberg News founder Michael Bloomberg revealed he may join the Democratic race for president. He’s rich and he’s blunt and he’s been accused of sexual harassment. Bloomberg’s campaign motto would be, Vote for the Billionaire Who Isn’t Trump.

• Modern Health magazine published a study comparing the success rate of various diet plans that are now being pitched in diet books, magazine articles and in TV commercials. You can feel lighter fast. I’m proud to say that since I joined Weight Watchers, I’ve lost $3,500.

• President Trump said he may order the White House staff to take a polygraph test to uncover leakers. A polygraph test would also be great for the presidential debates. Of course Joe Biden would misunderstand and think he is taking the Poli-Grip test, and think he’d pass with flying colors.

• Hunter Biden was questioned about how he landed on the board of a Ukraine natural gas company five years ago while Dad was Obama’s point man in charge of Ukraine. It looked bad. Hunter Biden doesn’t have the background experience in natural gas to sit on the board of Taco Bell.

During Tuesday’s Democrat debate, the leading presidential candidates continued to tout their visions for the future of our healthcare system. They both want a massive overhaul that gives us an overbearing and inefficient government-run system. So that is why it’s funny, especially for Mr. Sanders, that they don’t seem to be grasping that this type of system has already failed. Mr. Sanders’ state of Vermont tried to enact a single-payer system, and it failed due to the high taxes involved, the lack of significant savings, and the unpopularity of people not being able to pick their insurance plans. For anyone looking to be the next commander-in-chief, they need to realize that we need real solutions to our healthcare problems, not triedand-failed policies that sound good on the big Democrat stage, but do not work in the real world.

I found myself getting too bored to wait until the debate was over before writing a letter to the editor. All 12 of these candidates never answered a question they were asked. They got on that proverbial soapbox and spewed how much they have done for our great country. It started out on another assault on President Trump. The impeachment word was thrown around over and over. They even rewrote the Mueller Report to fit what they were claiming. Kamala claimed that President Trump had given a confession to his alleged crime. I have no idea what she was talking about and I’m sure she didn’t either. Bernie kept up his claim that universal health care was coming. The others pointed out the $30 trillion cost was NOT possible. Biden refused to answer any question about his son’s deals with countries

Our theater group read with great interest the article on the 270 Black Box Theater on Oct. 9. However, there is one clarification to be made. It states that the 270 Black Box offers more versatility than the nearby Yuma Community Theater. The theater they were referring to is the Historic Yuma Theatre. Yuma Community Theater is the oldest running community theater group in Arizona and currently operates as an itinerant group, which means we rent our performing spaces. We do have a building that we utilize for rehearsals and set construction. We hope one day in the future to have a performing arts center to serve as home to Yuma Community Theater as well as other performing arts groups in the Yuma area. Yuma Community Theater does in fact rent performing spaces at Historic Yuma Theatre and look forward to opportunities at the Black Box and other venues around town until our permanent performing arts home is built.
