Adams hearing delayed until Dec.
Tuesday’s hearing in Yuma County Superior Court for a 47-year-old man charged in connection to allegedly luring a minor for sexual exploitation has been rescheduled for later this year
In asking for what was a 45-day continuance, attorney Josh Cordova informed the court that there is a lot of disclosure he still needs to provide the prosecution and he is in the process of getting it done.
Once that is done, he continued, the prosecutor assigned to the case, attorney James Eustace, of the Yuma County Attorney’s office, would need time to review it, and that will likely take some time.
After hearing from both counsel, Superior Court Judge Brandon Kinsey, who is presiding over the case, granted Cordova’s request and continued the hearing until 8:30 a.m. on
Dec. 3.
Cordova represents Scott Nelson Adams, who remains in custody in the Yuma County jail on $250,000 cash-only bond. He has been charged with luring a minor for sexual exploitation and furnishing obscene material to a minor, both of which are felonies.
The victim in this case is under the age of 15. Adams and the victim were not known to each other prior to the contact, which was made through social media.
Yuma police are strongly urging parents to monitor their children’s online activity.
