InsulTech nabs Excellence in Innovation award
The Arizona Manufacturers Council presented Yuma-based InsulTech with the 2019 Excellence in Innovation award at the Manufacturers of the Year luncheon on Oct. 3.
Insultech is a Californiabased company that started in 1994 and moved its operations to Yuma eight years ago. The firm manufactures acoustical and thermal applications for commercial, industrial, defense, mining, renewable, oil and gas and aerospace.
In 2017, Insultech built a new plant, hired more employees and added more business to its services. Due to the quality of the workforce and local support in Yuma County, Insultech continues to grow, noted Karime Hayer of the Greater Yuma Economic Development Corporation. She nominated the company for the award.
Every year in October, the Arizona Manufacturing Extension Partnership celebrates manufacturers month for the thousands of jobs created by them in Arizona. The AZMEP launches a call to nominate manufacturers established in the state in different categories, such as Excellence in Innovation, Excellence in Sustainability, Small, Medium, and Large Manufacturing of the year.
GYEDC nominated Insultech for its commitment to innovation, for its continuous capital investment, the creation of new jobs and their interest in education by partnering with Arizona Western College in the creation of a new manufacturing program, Hayer said.
This program will be available in the fall of 2020.
Insultech’s new building is under construction, and the company is expecting to double its workforce upon completion.
“Yuma manufacturers are crucial to our local economy and deserve recognition at a local and state level. We are very proud of our manufacturers’ commitment to their employees and our community,” Hayer said.
