Kay flirts with triple-double, Hawks blow out Kofa

Jamison Kay flirted with a triple-double and the Gila Ridge boys basketball team cruised to a 73-51 victory over Kofa at home on Tuesday.

Kay finished with 26 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and five steals for the Hawks, who improved to 3-2 AIA with their second straight win.

Also for Gila Ridge, CJ Wiggins had 17 points and six rebounds, and Jordan

Stevens had 14 rebounds. Stone Braveheart (20 points, 10 rebounds) and Luis Rodriguez (10 points, 7 rebounds) were the top performers for Kofa (0-4 AIA).

Eric Ramirez had a monster double-double for the Raiders (4-1 AIA) with 29 points and 18 rebounds, while Jason Sandoval added 16 points and Chris Fernandez had 10.

Yuma High 64, San Luis 36

Jacob Herrera poured in 25 points for the Criminals (2-2 AIA), who won for the second time in as many nights. Alex Mosqueda (11 points) and Devin Epley (10) also finished in double figures for Yuma High.

Rakai Malone had 17 points for the Shamrocks (1-3 AIA) in the road loss.

San Pasqual 61, Salome 60

Jara Amador (21 points),

Angel Fierro (17 points) and Josh White (20 rebounds) led the way for the Warriors (3-1 AIA).

PREP GIRLS HOOPS Cibola 60, Brawley (CA) 8

Ariana Luera (15 points), Myna Johnson (13 points, 9 assists, 6 steals), Sierra Buck (14 points, 11 rebounds, 2 blocks) and Quinn Thompson (8 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals) led the way for the Raiders (4-0 AIA), who continue to completely shut down opposing offenses.

Gila Ridge 37, Kofa 33

Yasmeen Alcala (10 points), Molly Sims (6 points, 7 rebounds) and Madi Fain (6 points, 2 steals) led the way for the Hawks (3-2 AIA).

Kamariah Hawkins (17 points, 23 rebounds, 7 steals) had a big night for the Kings (2-4 AIA) in their loss.
