Falcons fire coach Quinn, GM Dimitroff after 0-5 start

Dan Quinn, who guided Atlanta to the Super Bowl for only the second time in franchise history but infamously squandered a 28-3 lead to Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, was fired on Sunday night in his sixth season as the Falcons coach.

The Falcons have also fired general manager Thomas Dimitroff.

The moves came hours after the Falcons started 0-5 for the first time since 1997, which included becoming the first team in NFL history to squander fourth-quarter leads of at least 15 points in back-toback games.

Muskovski scores 2, LAFC

beat Sounders 3-1 Danny Muskovski scored a pair of goals and Los Angeles FC defeated the Seattle Sounders 3-1 on Sunday night.

Musovski scored on a header from left of the goal mouth off a set piece to give LAFC (7-6-3) a 1-0 lead at the 15th minute.

Francisco Ginella made it a two-goal lead in the 65th minute. Nicolás Lodeiro put the Sounders (9-4-3) on the board in the 77th minute. Muskovski sealed it in the 84th.

LAFC has won three of its last four matches. Seattle saw its three-game winning streak come to an end.

Dallas’ Prescott leaves

with ankle injury Dallas Cowboys star quarterback Dak Prescott suffered a gruesome ankle injury in the third quarter against the New York Giants on Sunday and was immediately taken to a hospital, where surgery for a fracture dislocation was planned.

Prescott was hurt at the end of a run in the third quarter, his right ankle bending awkwardly as defensive back Logan Ryan’s right foot made contact with it as the two went to the turf.

After medical personnel tended to him on the field, Prescott was helped up and hopped on his left foot to get onto the cart. He buried his face in a towel as teammates came over to wish him well. He was given a standing ovation as he was taken off the field.

Laird redeems himself in playoff win in Las Vegas Martin Laird looked like a winner with an improbable par save on the 71st hole of the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, over the cart path, under the trees, between a pair of bunkers and an 18-foot putt.

He had to return to the par-3 17th in a three-man playoff to finish the job with a birdie.

Laird ended seven years without a victory Sunday when he made bogey from the fairway on the final hole at the TPC Summerlin, and then redeemed himself with a birdie putt from just outside 20 feet on the second extra hole.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – The ultimate anguish. The ultimate joy.

This season, for LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, had it all. And it ended in the only fashion that they deemed would be acceptable, with them back atop the basketball world.

For the first time since Kobe Bryant’s fifth and final title a decade ago, the Lakers are NBA champions. James had 28 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists, and the Lakers beat the Miami Heat 106-93 on Sunday

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Arizona Cardinals certainly came to the right place to get back on the winning track. Everybody wins at MetLife Stadium against New York’s rotten apples.

Having Kyler Murray and the offense put up nearly 500 yards against the hapless and winless Jets was almost predictable.

Murray ran for a touchdown and threw another to DeAndre Hopkins as the Cardinals snapped a twogame losing streak with a 30-10 victory over the Jets, further putting coach

Anthony Davis had 19 points and 15 rebounds for the Lakers, who dealt with the enormous anguish that followed the death of the iconic Bryant in January and all the challenges that came with leaving home for three months to play at Walt Disney World in a bubble designed to keep inhabitants safe from the coronavirus.

It would be, James predicted, the toughest title to ever win.

They made the clincher look easy. James won his fourth title, doing it with a third different franchise – and against the Heat franchise that showed him how to to become a champion.

Bam Adebayo had 25 points and 10 rebounds for Miami, which got 12 points from Jimmy Butler – the player who, in his first
