The Chretin’s entry in this weekend’s 2020 Colorado River Crossing Balloon Festival presented by Caballeros de Yuma floats lazily over the Yuma Valley between Somerton and San Luis early Friday morning. The event officially gets under way this morning with the traditiona­l mass ascension at approximat­ely sunrise at West Wetlands

Park. Due to Covid 19 restrictio­ns all events, including tonight’s Balloon Glow and Sunday morning’s second mass ascension, will be drive-through events, all at West Wetlands Park. The public will not be permitted on the field-launch area. There will be limited parking available for the launches and it is recommende­d that those attending the events do so from their vehicles. The glow is exclusivel­y a drive-through event. Drive-through admission to the morning launches today and Sunday is a canned food donation for the Yuma Community Food Bank. The public entrance to West Wetland Park is from 22nd Avenue. The can good collection will take place at that entrance. The highlight of the festival is the Balloon Glow tonight. Admission to the glow is also a canned food donation for the Yuma Community Food Bank.
