El Cajon driver reigns supreme at dwarf Car nationals

All hail Darren Brown! The driver from El Cajon, Calif., was crowned the king of the Dwarf Cars this weekend at Cocopah Speedway when he drove off with the Friday and Saturday night feature event wins in the Pro Dwarf Division in the 2021 Western States Dwarf Car Associatio­n Nationals.

The event attracted 87 Dwarf Cars from seven western states, including Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and Oregon.

Brown won Friday night’s 20-lap, 24-car feature after starting second on the grid, and won on Saturday night after starting third on the grid.

Also in the Nationals, Kevin Miragilo, from Pleasanton, Calif., won both nights’ Veteran Dwarf Division feature events, while Ellie Russo, from Baypoint, Calif., won the Friday night Sportsman Dwarf Division feature and Ayden Breese, from Peyton, Colo., won the Saturday night feature.

In the Nationals’ undercard events, El Centro’s Lance Mari won the Friday night IMCA Modified feature and Chandler’s Tim Ward won the Saturday night feature; David Pitt, from Rock Springs, Wyo., won the Friday night IMCA Sport Modified feature and Daniel West, from Bakersfiel­d, Calif., won the Saturday night feature; and Zac Foster, from Bakersfiel­d, won both nights’ Mod Lites feature events.

Also, Adyn Figueroa, from Yuma, won the Friday night Mini Dwarf Masters feature and Hudson Morris, also from Yuma, won the Saturday night feature; and Imperial’s Cody McCollough won the Friday night Mini Dwarf Sportsman feature and Eastyn Figueroa, from Yuma, won the Saturday night feature.
