Charles S. Snider “Duke”

Duke was born in Risco, Missouri to his adoring parents William Arthur and Goldia Bell Snider on March 30, 1930 during the Great Depression. His family moved from Missouri headed to the West Coast in search of work. He always told the story that he was proud to be a share croppers son as he and his siblings would help pick cotton to support the family. They settled in Los Angeles, California.

Duke was a strong man, with a big heart, who never met a stranger. A friend to everyone sharing great conversati­ons and stories. He loved to travel, hunt, and fish, but most of all he loved to dance. It was his favorite pastime and he looked forward to go dancing every week.

Duke proudly served 22 years in the USAF with a tour in Vietnam. Blessed living in so many places his life was full of dear friends and loved ones from all over the U.S., positively impacting the life of every person he met. He was known for being an incredibly optimistic man always looking up.

After his retirement, from the USAF he moved to Boise, Idaho and was the Director of Civil Defense for Ada County. Several years later he retired completely and traveled the U.S. for 15 years. In is later years he became a “snowbird” spending 6 months in the North and 6 months in the South.

Duke lived to be 90 years old and gently passed away on March 18 in Yuma, AZ. he will be forever missed by so many.

He leaves behind his beloved soulmate, Dorothy Jones, a brother Carlis Curly L. Snider and his wife Jeanne, a son Charles A. Snider and his wife Cynthia, granddaugh­ters Kelli Grunerud and Chelsey Snider, a grandson Chaz Snider, a daughter, Teresa G. Snider, a granddaugh­ter Dacia Szwaczkows­ki, a grandson

Daniel Szwaczkows­ki, two great granddaugh­ters Abrianna Garcia and Payton Szwaczkows­ki.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Delores A. Snider, a son Donald J. Snider, and a grandson Joshua S. Szwaczkows­ki.
