Mr. Russell V. Low, 96 of Yuma, Arizona passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at home with his family after being ill for several months.

He was born in Sanford, Maine where he grew up. He went into the Army and fought in the Korean War, and later was in occupied Japan. He left the Army to obtain his degree in mechanical engineerin­g. He attended the University of New Hampshire for that degree. Once he had his degree he returned to the Army as an officer where he served for over twenty years. While in the Army he obtained his Masters degree from the University of New YorkSyracu­se. He retired from the Army as a World War II Veteran and Lieutenant Colonel.

He enjoyed many activities in his life including building model trains, radio controlled airplanes, was a HAM radio operator, horseback riding, motorcycle riding, sailing his sailboat Champagne. He was also very good at games such as Chess, cards and complicate­d computer games. He even designed and had his computer built so that he could play these computer games and included a flight simulator so he could experience the feeling of flight. He was an avid reader that included novels, and magazine subscripti­ons to keep up on aeronautic­s, computers and the world. He also loved all animals from horses to dogs. His philanthro­py he contribute­d to was Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. He admired all that they were able to accomplish for the animals that reside there. He also loved to travel which he did on his motorcycle, and motorhome in later life. He traveled the country and found summer places to escape the Yuma summers in Oregon and Utah.

He is survived by the love of his life, Betty Low, and his loving daughter Martha and son-in-law Mark Tarlton.

An open house will be held on Sunday, November 7th, 2021 at 1:00-4:00pm located at Country Roads Inca Room as a celebratio­n of his life.
